Micah’s Message

August Letter 2026

Micah is one of twelve amazing Minor Prophets. They are called minor not because of their content or importance, but because of the smaller size of their written work. Micah was a contemporary of Isaiah. Unlike Isaiah, Micah was born outside the city of Jerusalem in Moresheth-Gath, a village located in the foothills of Judah near the Gaza strip.

In Hebrew, the name “Micah” means, “Who is like the LORD?” One of the central themes of Micah’s book is the judgment of sin and God’s merciful restoration of His people through His Son, the coming Messiah. Perhaps his most famous prophecy, recorded in the Gospels, pertains to Jesus’ birthplace: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting” (MICAH 5:2). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is truly God and truly man. As Micah simply put, “Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy” (MICAH 7:18). So, when we study Micah and the other Minor Prophets this month, let’s remember that they are not
minor at all! I also want to thank you so much for supporting us. Your giving is noticed by God. I pray that the LORD will bless you and keep you close to His provision in these tumultuous times.
