The Transition —

God has revealed to humanity His personal character and divine attributes over thousands of years. God’s Word documents two kinds of progressive revelation: General and Special. General Revelation refers to how God has revealed His eternal attributes and divine nature through our commonly shared human experience –– creation, conscience, and reason. There is no possible way the universe came into existence by itself before it existed, nor is there any way for moral law to be true and objective without a moral law giver–– God is moral truth. Special Revelation is God’s divine self revelation, unique knowledge and experience unveiling God’s personal character and nature for our redemption and salvation, such as the Scriptures, prophesies, theophanies, supernatural events, miracles, the incarnation of Jesus Christ and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. These special encounters with the Lord are divinely appointed to bring us closer to Him, to save us from our fallen state. Unlike General Revelation, which is perceived through nature and available to everyone, Special Revelation is holy and only truly shared among the children of God. The New Testament is all about how to find Special Revelation in our lives through the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to live and love the way He did. Here we encounter God’s Holy Spirit who is the gift and seal of redemption for all who believe in His holy name. The New Testament is God’s final fulfilment of progressive revelation, until He returns to remove the veil from our eyes to see His full glory, face to face. Let’s study and learn from God and His special revelation, how to live and love the way we are supposed to and not the way social media or the current culture tells us. Let’s set our mind on things above and not on things in this world.
