The Only Begotten Son of God —

It is difficult to find an intellectual who does not believe that Jesus Christ was a real person. This is a significant shift from the late 60’s and early 70’s in which the popular intellectual opinion was that He was a myth or legend. Today, there is so much scholarly research and historical evidence proving the existence of Jesus Christ that it is considered intellectual suicide to think otherwise. The question now is: Did Jesus truly rise from the dead after He was crucified?

This is the fundamental doctrine that challengers of our faith oppose and criticize vehemently. Did Jesus actually rise from the dead? Think about that. That is a serious question. In fact, it is the essence of Christianity. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central question that we all have to answer in this life. There’s no escaping it. For Jews, it is whether or not He truly was who He claimed to be––the ‘anointed one’ or Messiah prophesied by Moses. For Gentiles, it is whether or not He can back up the claims He makes about Himself in the New Testament. This is vitally important.

The reason is, if we believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, then we believe that He was vindicated by God in His claims about Himself––that He was the only begotten Son of God. Truly man and truly God. And if we believe His words, then we, too, will resurrect on the Day of His return.

So, the question for you is: Do you believe? Not that Jesus lived a good moral life two thousand years ago, but that Jesus was the Christ––the Godman––that He came and paid the cost for all our sin, and now provides a way for us to come to an all-holy God through Him––by following His words and His will, His way.
