Many people are involved with the reading of the Law of God in the Bible, and often take it incorrectly because they are reading it out of context. The Law of God was fulfilled by Jesus Christ. He was the only One who could. I personally work hard to follow Jesus Christ.
The law has three elements to it which are fascinating: 1) The ceremonial laws, that tended to involve the Levites and the priesthood. The offerings and the events surrounding the sacrifices were detailed. 2) The cultural side of the law, which dealt with the ancient ways of doing business as an Israelite, and 3) The moral side of the law which crosses all of time.
The Ten Commandments are famous because their truth confronts our moral lack. There are two places in the Bible where the Ten Commandments are recorded: Exodus 20, and Deuteronomy 5. As we read the Law of God, let’s remember that Jesus Christ was the only One who could fulfill and live it in His perfect, sinless life.
As Christians, we follow the way that Jesus Christ taught us to live. While we do our best, the sanctification of the Holy Spirit within us teaches us how to change. This is impossible without God’s precious Holy Spirit. As we read the law, let’s remember the majestic impact of Jesus Christ and what a stunning gift He gave when He sacrificed His life and rose from the dead to give us eternal life.
