From Judges to Kings

April Letter 2026

The history between Joshua leading Israel into the Promised Land and Saul, the first king of Israel, is quite theatrical. There is a constant tug of war between light and dark, between obeying and forgetting the LORD who brought them out of the land of Egypt. God had called His people Israel to be a holy nation and to follow His lead. The key takeaway throughout all this drama is how Israel repented, remembered, and returned to the LORD when darkness began to overtake them. They could not prevail over their trouble on their own, they needed to call on the name of the LORD to be delivered. This is the pattern of the New Testament–– God commands all people to repent of their sins, remember who He is, and return to Him in faith and obedience. God is so merciful! He alone is the perfect judge. As we journey through the Judges and Kings, let’s remember that God has showed us these passages in Scripture to demonstrate how we can become personally involved with His will. Even in dark times of unyielding persecution or trouble from what we have made for ourselves, we need to be faithful to
His leading, we need to pray and call on the LORD for help. That which He has promised, He will do!
