As we continue to read through the New Testament, it is good to remind ourselves that Testament means Covenant. This is very important because of how God works out His plans in the course of time. The New Covenant is the fulfillment of the Old Covenant that Jesus Christ accomplished in time once for all. The record of what Jesus Christ did is included in the Gospels. The outcome of what He did, as a result of His life, death, and resurrection, is written for us in the book of Acts. The way we now follow Jesus Christ in our lives is confronted and explained in the letters that follow.
This month we are confronted with Paul and his challenges explaining to a carnal culture how those who follow Christ should live after coming to faith and making their lifelong commitment to the LORD. While Paul was not writing to us, he was writing for us. We all need to hear and be confronted with the reality of living for Christ daily. Many times, we, too, need to be encouraged.
Reading and studying the New Testament is a great way to learn about what God has done for us and how much He loves each of us. It is a great way to know how we should live in these troubled times. The LORD will help us with His Holy Spirit.
