The his month we will see three of the major prophets of the Bible tell us in different ways how God reveals His plans to us, and how we can and should obey His Word. God desires us to know what He is doing so that we can get with His plan rather than consistently ask Him to get with our plans.
The human mind is a selfish thing, we are always thinking of how we need help. Thank God that He knows our deficiencies and that He already has a plan in place! Our drawbacks do not have to overcome us, God can work through them to help us. Jesus Christ came to earth the first time to give us that advantage, if we accept Him and repair our relationship with God, we can begin building God’s work rather than our own.
As we roll through the summer months, there’s a lot of talk about the upcoming USA election, but amidst all the political jargon let’s remember where our real citizenship is. It’s not here. Listen to Paul the apostle as he explains where his loyalty is:
“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” (Philippians 3:18-21)
Paul reminds us of the real call on each Christian’s life—it is eternal, not temporal. As we read through the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, we will learn that, as Christians, our only loyalty is to the One who gave us eternal life: Jesus Christ. We must work to build His Kingdom. Voting is important, but prayer and loyalty to the LORD Jesus Christ are the most important.
